Padel americano generator: rotations, scores, standings

Run a padel americano for 4 to 24 players: rounds with rotating partners, courts, scores to 16, 21, 24 or 32 points and an individual leaderboard.

Padel americano: rotations, points and individual ranking

An americano is played as doubles, but each player keeps their own score: partners change every round and the team's points go to both players. Every match is played to a fixed number of points set by the organizer (16, 21, 24 or 32 here), and the ranking goes by total points.

How the tool builds the schedule

  • A court takes 4 players. With N players and C courts, each round has the smaller of C and N ÷ 4 rounded down matches; everyone else sits out, starting with those who have waited least.
  • Each round is a split of the active players, so nobody appears twice in it. The tool tries 300 splits per round and the whole schedule up to 12 times, keeping the fewest repeated partners, then the smallest spread between opponents.
  • The balance achieved is measured and shown: repeated partners, meetings as opponents, matches and rests per player.

Example

8 players, 2 courts, 7 rounds, matches to 24 points: each player plays 7 matches and partners each of the 7 others once. A match won 13-11 gives 13 points to each winner and 11 to each loser. Over the event, 7 × 2 matches × 48 points = 672 points are handed out, 84 per player on average.

Limits

If the number of players is not a multiple of 4, or courts are short, some players sit out each round and match counts can differ by one; the ranking then uses points per match. With fewer than N − 1 rounds, not everyone can partner everyone. A perfect opponent balance is not guaranteed: across 40 test draws for each size from 8 to 24 players (N − 1 rounds, as many courts as possible up to 6), no partner repeated, but two players met as opponents 0 to 4 times. The International Padel Federation rules are played in pairs and score games 15, 30, 40; they do not define the americano, a club format whose details depend on the organizer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a padel americano work?

Each round, players switch partners and opponents, and a match is played to a fixed number of points, such as 24. Each player adds their team's points to their own total: winning 13-11 gives 13 points to both partners.

How many rounds for 8 players?

7 rounds on 2 courts: that is the number that lets everyone partner each of the 7 others once. With 16 players on 4 courts, it takes 15 rounds for the same result.

What if the number of players is not a multiple of 4?

Some players sit out each round: with 10 players on 2 courts, 2 wait every round. The tool rotates the rests (at most one rest apart between players) and ranks by points per match if match counts differ.

How are ties on points broken?

The tool breaks ties on point difference (scored minus conceded), then on wins. A player on 84 points with +12 ranks above a player on 84 points with +4.
