Pickleball score keeper: doubles, singles and score calls
Keep score in pickleball: 0-0-2 start, server 1 or 2, correct serving side, games to 11 win by 2, undo, history and an optional spoken score call.
How pickleball scoring works: serve, score call and positions
In pickleball only the serving side scores, by winning the rally, and a game is usually played to 11 points, win by 2. In doubles the score is called as three numbers: serving team score, receiving team score, then server number. Games start at 0-0-2 because the team that serves first has only one server in its first rotation.
Rules applied
- Points: only the serving side scores (rule 4.A); the server switches courts after each point won.
- Positions: the player who served first for the team is on the right when the team score is zero or even, on the left when it is odd (5.B.4). After each side out, the first server is the player on the right.
- Servers: server 1 serves until a rally is lost, then server 2; another lost rally is a side out (5.B.5 and 5.B.6).
- Winning: 11, 15 or 21 points, win by 2 (15.C); change ends at 6, 8 or 11 points in a single game or tie-breaker (21.B).
- Option: rally scoring is a provisional rule (14.A): a point on every rally, one server per team, a two-number call.
Example
Team A serves at 0-0-2 and wins: 1-0-2, and the same player now serves from the left. A loses the rally: side out. B has 0 points, an even score, so its right-side player serves: 0-1-1. B loses: the partner serves, 0-1-2. B loses again: A takes the serve back with 1 point, an odd score, so the starting server's partner is now on the right and serves at 1-0-1.
Limits
The tool tracks one game at a time and does not judge faults (non-volley zone, two-bounce rule). The end change appears as a reminder only: it changes neither the server nor the positions, which follow the score. The spoken call depends on the voices installed on your device.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does 0-0-2 mean in pickleball?
It is the opening call in doubles: 0 for the serving team, 0 for the receivers and server number 2. The team that starts has only one server in its first rotation (rule 5.B.4), hence the 2.
Who serves after a side out in pickleball?
The player on the right according to the team score becomes server 1 (rule 5.B.4). The team's starting server is on the right when that score is even; with an odd score, it is the partner.
Do you have to win by 2 in pickleball?
Yes. Games to 11, or to 15 and 21 in tournaments, are won by at least 2 points (rule 15.C): at 11-10 play continues to 12-10 or beyond. Only team play may allow a 1-point margin.
What is rally scoring in pickleball?
It is a provisional rule in the USA Pickleball rulebook (14.A): the side that wins the rally scores, whether it served or not. Each team has a single server and the score is called as two numbers.
