Odds of a 5★ pull with pity: how the calculator works

Without pity, the chance of at least one 5★ in n pulls is 1 − (1 − p)ⁿ: 38.2% over 80 pulls at 0.6%. With the soft pity modelled by the tool, the same 80 pulls reach 86.7%, and a 5★ is guaranteed on pull 90 in Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.

How the tool calculates

• Available pulls = pulls in stock + premium currency ÷ cost per pull (160 Primogems, Stellar Jade or Astrite; 3 Saint Quartz; 120 Pyroxene; 300 Gems), rounded down.
• Each pull uses the game's base rate (0.6% Genshin and Star Rail, 0.8% Wuthering Waves, 1% FGO, 3% Blue Archive, 4% Nikke). From the soft pity threshold the rate rises in a straight line to 100% on the guaranteed pull (90 or 80). Chance of at least one 5★ = 1 − product of (1 − rate) over all pulls, starting from your current pity.
• Featured character with a 50/50: the tool tracks pity and guarantee pull by pull; each 5★ resets pity, and a lost 50/50 makes the next 5★ the featured one. On the Genshin Impact character banner, a 50/50 is won 55% of the time by default (see Capturing Radiance); in Star Rail and Wuthering Waves it stays at 50%. The worst case counts two full cycles (180 pulls from pity 0 in Genshin).

Genshin Impact mode

• Wishes = Intertwined Fates + Primogems ÷ 160 + Masterless Starglitter ÷ 5, each term rounded down. Paimon's Bargains sells an Intertwined Fate for 5 Starglitter, with no monthly limit.
• Projection: if you enter the banner end date, the tool adds one daily income per day from tomorrow up to and including that date. Daily Commissions give 60 Primogems (4 × 10, plus a 20 bonus at the Adventurers' Guild) and the Blessing of the Welkin Moon gives 90 a day for 30 days, so lower that figure if it runs out before the end.
• Constellation goal: C0 means 1 copy of the featured character, C6 means 7. Every copy goes through the 50/50, so the worst case from pity 0 without a guarantee is 180 wishes for C0, 360 for C1 and 1,260 wishes (201,600 Primogems) for C6.
• Weapon banner: 0.7% base rate, a 5★ guaranteed by wish 80, and a 75% chance that a 5★ is one of the two featured weapons. With Epitomized Path, any 5★ other than the charted weapon gives the Fate Point (1 at most since version 5.0), and the next 5★ is the charted weapon. HoYoverse only publishes the 75% for both weapons together; the tool splits it evenly, 37.5% per weapon. Worst case: 160 wishes (25,600 Primogems) for R1. Fate Points reset when the banner ends.
• Chronicled Wish uses the same maths as the character banner (0.6%, guarantee at 90, 50% for the chosen item, 1 Fate Point), but its Fate Point does not carry over to the next Chronicled Wish: use character mode with the guarantee box unticked and tick “Strict 50/50, without Capturing Radiance”, since HoYoverse describes Capturing Radiance for the character event wish.

Capturing Radiance

Since version 5.0, a lost 50/50 on the character banner can trigger Capturing Radiance, which then gives you the featured character. In its 10/02/2025 update, HoYoverse states a 0.018% base trigger rate, a consolidated 55% chance that a 5★ won on a 50/50 is the featured character, and a guaranteed trigger after three 50/50s lost in a row. It does not say how the counter moves in between. By default the tool therefore applies that 55% to every 50/50 on the Genshin Impact character banner; a 5★ pulled under a guarantee is still the featured character. This constant rate is an approximation: it matches the published consolidated probability, not the counter itself. The “Strict 50/50, without Capturing Radiance” box goes back to 50%, the pre-5.0 calculation. From pity 0, 80 wishes give 52.0% with Capturing Radiance and 48.2% with a strict 50/50.

Examples

Genshin, pity 0, 80 pulls, no guarantee: 86.7% for at least one 5★ (50% by pull 77, 80% by pull 80, 99% by pull 84). For the featured character the tool shows 52.0% with Capturing Radiance (63.2% with 90 pulls, 100% with 180); with a strict 50/50, 48.2% (59.1% with 90 pulls).

Constellations from pity 0 without a guarantee: with 300 wishes, 100% for C0, 95.7% for C1 and 62.2% for C2; with 500 wishes, 68.1% for C4 and 11.5% for C6.

Weapon banner, pity 0, no Fate Point: 50.4% for the charted weapon in 80 wishes, 61.2% in 100, 100% in 160.

Available wishes: 20 Intertwined Fates, 8,000 Primogems and 42 Starglitter, with a banner ending in 21 days, the Welkin Moon (90) and commissions (60): 20 + (8,000 + 3,150) ÷ 160 + 42 ÷ 5 = 20 + 69 + 8 = 97 wishes. From pity 10 without a guarantee, that gives 67.3% for the featured character.

Limits

• The linear ramp is a model: publishers disclose the base rate, consolidated rate and guarantee, not the soft pity curve. The 74, 65 and 63 (Genshin weapon) thresholds are player estimates.
• Weapon banner: after a standard 5★ weapon, the featured-weapon guarantee carries over to the next banner but the Fate Point does not. The first 5★ on the new banner then has a 50% chance of being the charted weapon, while the tool counts 37.5%, so it slightly understates your chances.
• FGO, Blue Archive and Nikke have no 50/50: the featured unit has its own rate (0.8% for a solo FGO pickup, 0.7% on Blue Archive, 2% on Nikke) and the 330 or 200 milestone secures it (FGO guarantee, point or mileage exchange).

Frequently Asked Questions

How many wishes guarantee a 5-star in Genshin Impact?

At most 90 wishes on a character banner, thanks to hard pity. To be sure of the featured character after losing a 50/50, allow up to 180 wishes, or 28,800 Primogems.

How do I calculate the chance of at least one 5★ in n pulls?

Without pity it is 1 − (1 − p)ⁿ. At a 0.6% rate that gives 30.3% over 60 pulls and 38.2% over 80 pulls. Soft pity pushes these figures up from around pull 74.

What is the 50/50?

When you pull a 5★ on a 50/50 banner, there is a one in two chance it is the featured character. If you lose, the next 5★ is guaranteed to be featured: tick the active guarantee box in the tool. In Genshin Impact, since version 5.0, Capturing Radiance raises that probability to 55% according to HoYoverse: the tool uses it by default on the character banner.

Does pity carry over between banners?

Yes, for character banners of the same type in Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail: the counter and the guarantee move to the next banner. Enter your current pity as shown in your wish history.

How many Primogems do I need for C1 or C6 in Genshin Impact?

In the worst case, from pity 0 without a guarantee: 360 wishes (57,600 Primogems) for C1 and 1,260 wishes (201,600 Primogems) for C6. On average it takes far fewer: with 700 wishes the tool already gives 70.6% for C6 (63.5% with a strict 50/50).

How does Epitomized Path work on the weapon banner?

You chart the weapon you want: any other 5★ gives you the Fate Point (1 at most since version 5.0), and the next 5★ is the charted weapon. The worst case is 160 wishes, or 25,600 Primogems. From pity 0 the tool gives 50.4% in 80 wishes. The Fate Point is lost when the banner ends.

Does the calculator include Capturing Radiance?

Yes, by default on the Genshin Impact character banner: every 50/50 counts as 55%, the consolidated probability HoYoverse published on 10/02/2025. HoYoverse does not publish how the counter works, so this constant rate is an approximation. From pity 0, 80 wishes give 52.0%; with the “Strict 50/50” box, 48.2%.

How many wishes will I have when the banner ends?

Enter your Primogems, Intertwined Fates, Starglitter and the end date. Daily Commissions give 60 Primogems a day and the Welkin Moon 90: over 21 days that is 3,150 Primogems, or 19 extra wishes on their own. Starglitter converts at 5 per Intertwined Fate.
