Healing Crystal Finder: Meanings, Chakras and Cleansing
Choose a crystal and see the properties tradition attributes to it (love, protection, abundance) and its water, moon or sun cleansing rituals.
Lithotherapy stones: profiles, cleansing and recharging
The guide covers six common stones (amethyst, rose quartz, black tourmaline, citrine, labradorite, lapis lazuli) with the chakra, intentions, cleansing and recharging methods that tradition associates with them. Crystal healing has no scientific validation: these profiles describe a practice, with no proven health effect.
What each profile contains
- The associated chakra, three intentions (for example serenity, intuition and sleep for amethyst) and a description of the virtues attributed to the stone.
- The traditional cleansing method (water, smudging, sound, burial) and recharging method (moonlight, sunlight, geode).
- A button copies the profile so you can keep it. The tool performs no calculation and no personalised matching: you pick a stone and read its profile.
Example
Amethyst profile: crown and third-eye chakras; intentions serenity, intuition, peaceful sleep; cleansing with demineralised water or smudging; recharging in moonlight, away from direct sun. Black tourmaline is linked to the root chakra, cleansed in salt water or earth and recharged in sunlight.
What is known about the minerals
- Amethyst, rose quartz and citrine are three varieties of quartz, hardness 7 on the Mohs scale. Amethyst and rose quartz can fade after long exposure to sunlight, which matches the advice to recharge them out of the sun.
- Lapis lazuli is a softer rock (hardness 5 to 5.5) that copes badly with prolonged water and salt; the profile accordingly suggests smudging or sound.
- Much of the citrine on sale is heat-treated amethyst; ask about the origin if “natural citrine” matters to you.
Limit
The virtues and intentions shown are traditional beliefs without scientific evidence. A stone does not treat anxiety, sleep problems or exposure to electromagnetic waves: see a doctor for any health concern.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is crystal healing scientifically recognised?
No. No study has shown an effect from stones beyond placebo. The guide describes a traditional practice and does not replace medical advice.
Can every stone go in water?
No. The quartz stones (amethyst, rose quartz, citrine), hardness 7, tolerate water, but softer lapis lazuli (5 to 5.5) is damaged by prolonged water and salt. Its profile in the guide suggests smudging or sound instead.
Why keep amethyst out of the sun?
Long exposure to UV can fade amethyst's purple colour, as it can the pink of rose quartz. The guide therefore suggests moonlight for recharging it according to tradition.
How can I tell natural citrine?
Natural citrine is pale yellow to honey-coloured and fairly rare; much of the citrine on sale is heat-treated amethyst, with a deeper orange tone at the base. Only a gemmologist can confirm it with certainty.
