Vignettes in Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia: 2026 prices

In 2026 a car up to 3.5 t pays CHF 40 for the annual vignette in Switzerland (the only duration on offer), €9.60 for 1 day, €12.80 for 10 days, €32 for 2 months or €106.80 for the year in Austria, and €16 for 7 days, €32 for 1 month or €117.50 for 1 year in Slovenia. The cheapest choice depends on how many motorway days you have and how far apart they are: two days two weeks apart cost less with two 1-day vignettes than with one 10-day vignette.

How the tool chooses

Each country is handled separately, since a vignette is only valid in its own country. The tool sorts the driving days and, at the first day not yet covered, tries every vignette bought on that day; it keeps the cheapest sequence (dynamic programming). Durations: 10 consecutive calendar days in Austria; 2 months up to the same day of the month; 7 days, 1 month or 1 year up to the same date in Slovenia; Swiss and Austrian annual vignettes from 1 December of the previous year to 31 January of the following year.

Worked example

Outward on 11 July 2026 and back on 25 July through all three countries: Switzerland, the 2026 vignette at CHF 40; Austria, two 1-day vignettes, €19.20 (versus €25.60 for two 10-day vignettes); Slovenia, a 1-month e-vignette from 11 July to 11 August, €32, the same price as two 7-day vignettes but a single purchase. Total: CHF 40 + €51.20. Fourteen consecutive days in Austria come to €25.60 (two 10-day vignettes).

Limits

  • Cars up to 3.5 t; in Slovenia, class 2A requires a height of at most 1.3 m above the front axle.
  • Motorcycles, trailers, heavy vehicles and toll tunnels are out of scope.
  • Austria: a digital 2-month or annual vignette bought online is valid 18 days after purchase at the earliest.
  • 2027 prices were not published on 15/10/2026: days from 1 December 2026 use the editable 2026 prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the Swiss vignette in 2026?

CHF 40 for a car, as a sticker or an e-vignette. Only an annual vignette exists: the 2026 one is valid from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2027. Driving without one costs a CHF 200 fine plus the price of the vignette.

Which vignette should I buy to cross Austria and come back?

If the outward and return trips are more than 10 days apart, two 1-day vignettes at €9.60 (€19.20) cost less than a 2-month vignette at €32. If both fall within the same 10-day window, one 10-day vignette at €12.80 is enough.

Is there a 6-month vignette for cars in Slovenia?

No. For class 2A (cars up to 3.5 t), DARS offers 7 days (€16), 1 month (€32) and 1 year (€117.50); the half-year vignette is for motorcycles only. A 1-month vignette costs the same as two 7-day vignettes.

Can I buy the Austrian vignette online at the last minute?

Yes for the digital 1-day and 10-day vignettes, which are valid immediately. 2-month and annual vignettes bought online by a consumer are valid only from the 18th day after purchase because of the cooling-off right.
