Converting EU, US and UK shoe and clothing sizes: the tables

There is no single official formula linking European, British and American sizes, so the tool reads common equivalence tables. Here an EU 42 shoe matches a US men's 8.5 (women's 10), a UK 7.5 and a 26.5 cm foot; a women's M equals a French 38, a US 6 and a UK 10.

What the tool converts

  • Shoes (EU 35 to 48): US men's, US women's (US men's + 1.5), UK (US men's − 1), foot length in cm (shown as JP/Mondopoint) and in inches. European sizes use the Paris point (2/3 cm of last length): 42 × 2/3 = 28 cm of last for a foot of about 26.5 cm.
  • Men's tops (XS to 3XL): FR/EU 44 to 56, US/UK 34 to 46, chest measurement (M = FR 48 = US 38, 96 to 101 cm).
  • Women's (XS to 3XL): FR 34 to 46, US 2 to 14, UK 6 to 18, Italy 38 to 50, bust and waist measurements.
  • Jeans: FR size = US waist (W) + 10, so W32 = 42.

Example

A man in EU 44 gets US 10, UK 9, 28 cm and 11.0 inches. The same size in a women's model gives US 11.5. A woman in French 40 (L) takes a US 8, a UK 12 and an Italian 44.

Limits

  • Equivalents vary by brand and country of manufacture: measure your foot (heel to longest toe, standing, at the end of the day) and check the brand's size guide.
  • The notes “Nike runs small, Adidas true to size” reflect user feedback, not an official source.
  • The “W + 10” jeans rule is an approximation; leg length (L) is not converted.
