Chess stats: Chess.com and Lichess player ratings
Enter a Chess.com or Lichess username: rating per time control (bullet, blitz, rapid), wins, draws and losses, win rate and a 12-month rating chart.
Reading chess stats on Chess.com and Lichess: rating, RD, record and trend
Chess.com and Lichess keep a separate rating for each time control (bullet, blitz, rapid…), calculated with the Glicko system on Chess.com and Glicko-2 on Lichess: each rating comes with a rating deviation (RD) that measures how reliable it is. The tool reads these figures from the public APIs of both sites and charts the rating over the last 12 months.
What the tool shows
On Chess.com, two requests are sent when the page loads: the profile (title, country, league, join date, last online) and the stats. For each time control played you see the current rating, its RD, the best rating with its date and a link to that game, then wins, draws and losses. The win rate is computed by the tool: wins divided by the total number of rated games. The FIDE rating shown is the value the API attaches to the profile; it does not say where it comes from.
On Lichess, the tool reads the public profile: rating, RD and number of rated games in bullet, blitz, rapid, classical and correspondence, marked "provisional" when the RD is above 110 (Lichess then shows a "?"). The wins, draws and losses cover every game on the account, casual games and variants included: this profile does not break them down by time control.
Rating chart
For each time control, the chart plots the rating after the last rated game of each day over the last 12 calendar months. On Chess.com it is built on request from the monthly game archives (rated games, standard rules), read one at a time: according to the API documentation, requests made one after the other are never rate-limited, and one month can exceed 2 MB for a very active player. On Lichess a single request is enough, as the API returns at most one point per day. The table under the chart gives the first and latest rating of the period, the change between them, the minimum and the maximum.
Stats by opening
Along with the Chess.com chart, the tool builds an opening breakdown from the same games, with no extra request: rated standard games from the last 12 months. In the archives, each game normally carries the URL of its opening on Chess.com (the "eco" field, also found in the ECOUrl header of the PGN). The tool keeps the family name, up to the first word Defense, Opening, Game, Attack, Gambit or System, so "Sicilian-Defense-Kan-Variation" counts as Sicilian Defense. Names are Chess.com's own; some lines have a distinct Chess.com name (Closed Sicilian Defense, Alapin Sicilian Defense) and so form their own family. Two tables separate the games played as White and as Black. Each row gives the number of games, the wins, draws and losses, and the win rate (wins divided by games). Families are sorted by number of games, and the first ten are shown at first. A game whose opening Chess.com does not recognize ("Undefined") is left out. The breakdown covers Chess.com only: the Lichess profile and rating history read by the tool do not include openings.
Worked examples
On 14/10/2026 the Chess.com account hikaru showed 35,952 blitz wins, 4,371 draws and 5,536 losses, or 45,859 games. Win rate: 35,952 ÷ 45,859 = 78.4%. His blitz rating was 3,479 with an RD of 35: a low RD means the rating is considered reliable; it rises for a new player or one who has not played for a while, whose rating then moves more. According to his archives, he ended September 2026 at 3,450 in blitz and 3,391 in bullet.
On 22/10/2026 the Lichess account DrNykterstein had 7,212 wins, 834 draws and 2,409 losses out of 10,455 games, a win rate of 7,212 ÷ 10,455 = 69.0%. From November 2025 to October 2026 his bullet rating went from 3,233 to 3,263, a change of +30.
In September 2026, hikaru's archive holds 507 rated games with a recognized opening (two more are marked "Undefined"). As White, his most played family is the Nimzowitsch-Larsen Attack: 39 games, 36 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss, a win rate of 36 ÷ 39 = 92.3%. As Black, it is the Sicilian Defense: 58 games, 51 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses, or 51 ÷ 58 = 87.9%.
Limits
- Glicko, Glicko-2 and FIDE Elo are on different scales: 1,800 blitz on Chess.com is neither 1,800 on Lichess nor 1,800 FIDE.
- Chess.com responses go through a cache: a game finished a few minutes ago may be missing.
- Without a login, Lichess only returns the rating history when it holds a cached copy; otherwise the chart stays empty.
- A time control never played does not appear in the stats.
To estimate the expected score between two ratings, use the site's Elo calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Chess.com rating the same as FIDE Elo?
No. Chess.com uses the Glicko system, computed on its own players and time controls, while FIDE Elo is computed from games in rated tournaments. One number does not convert into the other, and only the FIDE rating counts for official titles.
What does RD next to my rating mean?
RD (rating deviation) measures the uncertainty of a Glicko rating. A new account starts with a high RD, hence big swings in the first games; RD also rises again after a long break. The lower it gets, the fewer points are won or lost per game.
Why is my rating not updated yet?
The Chess.com public API is served through a cache: according to its documentation, a request repeated too quickly may get the cached version. A game played a few minutes ago may therefore be missing; your profile page on Chess.com is the live reference.
Why do I have different ratings in blitz and rapid?
Each time control has its own rating, based only on games at that speed, with its own RD. A player can be 300 points apart between two time controls.
How do I see a player's Lichess stats?
Select Lichess above the field, then enter the username. The tool shows the rating, RD and number of rated games in bullet, blitz, rapid, classical and correspondence, the record over all games and the chart for the last 12 months. Example on 22/10/2026: DrNykterstein was rated 3,263 in bullet, with 7,212 wins out of 10,455 games, or 69.0%.
How is the rating chart drawn?
One point per day and per time control: the rating after the last rated game of that day, over the last 12 calendar months. On Chess.com the tool reads the monthly game archives on request, one at a time; on Lichess it reads the rating history the site publishes. For a time control played recently, the last point is the rating shown on its card.
Why is a Lichess rating marked provisional?
Lichess treats a rating as provisional when its Glicko-2 deviation (RD) is above 110: too few rated games against opponents of similar strength, or a long time without playing. The site then shows a "?" next to the number, and the rating moves more after each game while the RD stays high.
How can I see a player's stats by opening?
On Chess.com, click "Show the chart and openings": the breakdown uses the games already read for the chart, that is rated standard games from the last 12 months. Each game goes into the family of its opening, under the name Chess.com gives it (Sicilian Defense, French Defense…), in one table for White and one for Black. A row's win rate is wins divided by games: 36 wins out of 39 games give 92.3%. There is no such breakdown for Lichess, whose public profile does not list openings.
