LinkedIn SSI Score & Organic Post Reach Simulator
Diagnose your Social Selling Index (out of 100) and simulate format reach multipliers (PDF carousels vs external links) under the LinkedIn algorithm.
LinkedIn SSI score and post reach: how the model works
LinkedIn's Social Selling Index (SSI) is a 0-100 score split into four 25-point components: professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights and building relationships. The simulator adds up your four scores, then estimates a post's impressions as network × 0.45 × format multiplier × SSI multiplier × engagement multiplier. These multipliers are the simulator's own assumptions; LinkedIn does not publish its ranking algorithm.
The formula
Impressions = network size × 0.45 × format × SSI × engagement. The format factor is 2.3 for a PDF carousel, 1.6 for text only, 1.4 for a poll, 1.2 for text + image, 1.1 for video and 0.45 for a post with an external link. Ticking "external link in the body" multiplies the format by another 0.45. The SSI factor is 1.4 from 80 points, 1.15 from 65 to 79, 0.9 from 45 to 64 and 0.65 below. The engagement factor is 1.25 if you reply to comments within the first hour (0.85 otherwise), times 1.35 when comments run longer than five words.
Example
Scores 21 + 18 + 17 + 19 = 75/100, a 2,500-connection network, a carousel, quick replies and long comments: 2.3 × 1.15 × 1.25 × 1.35 = 4.46. Estimated impressions: 2,500 × 0.45 × 4.4634 ≈ 5,021 views. The same post with a link in the body drops to 2,260 views (multiplier 2.01). The ranking badge shows "Top 10%" from 70 points, "Top 25%" from 50 to 69 and "below average" under 50; these thresholds belong to the tool.
Limits
- The coefficients are rough values chosen for the simulator, neither measured nor published by LinkedIn. Compare scenarios with each other rather than aiming at a number.
- Your actual SSI is shown on your LinkedIn dashboard; the tool does not connect to it.
- Real reach depends on topic, posting time and audience, which the model ignores.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find my LinkedIn SSI score?
LinkedIn shows your Social Selling Index on a dedicated dashboard in your account, with a score out of 100 and the four components scored out of 25. Enter those four scores in the simulator and it adds them up to get the total.
What is a good SSI score?
LinkedIn publishes no official threshold; its dashboard ranks your score against your industry and your network. The simulator shows "Top 10%" from 70 points and applies its best reach multiplier (×1.4) from 80: these are internal benchmarks of the tool.
Does an external link in a LinkedIn post really cut reach?
LinkedIn gives no figure. The simulator applies a 0.45 factor to a post with a link in the body, about 55% fewer impressions: in the default example a carousel falls from 5,021 to 2,260 estimated views. Putting the link in the first comment is the common workaround for this assumed penalty.
How does the simulator estimate a post's views?
It starts from 45% of your network, then multiplies by a format factor (0.45 to 2.3), an SSI factor (0.65 to 1.4) and an engagement factor (0.85 to 1.69). With 2,500 connections, an SSI of 75 and a lively carousel, you get about 5,000 views.
